Hi, welcome to my official website.
I am a British Chinese experimental composer for film, stage and music theatre, and a classically trained pianist and multi-instrumental performer. I am an artist who loves working on both classical, contemporary and electronic compositions. My work has been performed internationally including commissions from the Royal Shakespeare Company, Hong Kong Arts Festival, Tête-à-Tête Opera Festival, British Film Institute, Chinese Arts Space, Shakespeare Festival – Stratford, Canada and Pittsburgh Opera Festival.
My musical journey so far includes composing and performing soundtracks to silent films (for example Around China with a movie camera and Piccadilly revisited). My live performance compositions have been performed internationally. I have played in indie bands such as Ghost Orchestra and Paris Motel, and am an orchestrator and lead keyboard for the iconic 1990s clubbing brand Miss Moneypenny’s ‘Night at the Proms’ tour. I have also been assistant to the Academy Award winning composer Dario Marianelli for many years, collaborating on films such as ‘A Long Way Down’ ‘The Brothers Grimm’ and ‘Pride and Prejudice’.
I have composed music for many films and television documentaries that have been aired across the world on most major networks. My score for silent feature film ‘Around China with a movie camera’ (British Film Institute), has been performed live across the United Kingdom. I have recently been working more in the British theatre industry and was recently nominated for the best composer award at The Stage debut awards for my work with The Royal Shakespeare Company. My compositions have wide ranging influences: western classical music to modern electronics to world fusion music.
