Ruth Chan

Ruth Chan is a composer for film, theatre, opera and concert music. Ruth is an artist who loves working on both classical, contemporary and electronic compositions, merging different styles together. Her music has been performed and broadcast internationally and has previously been nominated for the Stage Awards.

Opera and Theatre credits include: The Hatchling (Plymouth Hoe, The Platinum Jubilee Pageant), Madam Butterfly (Opera Up Close), Between Constellations (Pittsburgh Opera Festival/Grimeborn Festival); The Triumph of Time (Thailand International Composition Festival, Pianoforte Studio Chicago, Shakespearean Theatre Conference Stratford, Ontario), Hedda Tesman (Chichester Festival Theatre), Taming of the Shrew and Snow in Midsummer (Royal Shakespeare Company)

Ruth is currently working on ‘Doncastrian Chalk Circle’ (National Theatre/Cast Doncaster), a newly adapted musical version of Bertolt Brecht’s classic play is due to be performed by an eclectic mix of Doncastrian community members this summer.
